Who you are
The Assistant Manager of Accounting is expected to be in charge of the functions of financial reporting and cash management of the organization.  The ideal candidate will be a designated accountant with experience in real estate industry. He or she is expected to contribute to raising the efficiency in the Accounting Department. The ability to prioritize is a must for this dynamic position.

Responsibilities of the role:
More specifically, the duties of the position include, but are not restricted to, the following:

  1. Review, approve and post journal entries prepared by project accountants.
  2. Prepare journal entries for more complicated transactions, including but not restricted to, acquistions and companies/entities set-up.
  3. Review of intercompany balances and other balance sheet accounts and follow up with respective accountants to correct balances if required.
  4. Review in detail quarterly and year end lead sheets prepared by the project accountants for individual entities to ensure that balances are properly recorded under generally accepted accounting principles.
  5. Coordinate with external auditors for interim and year end audits.
  6. Prepare full set of consolidated financial statements of the organization including notes disclosures.
  7. Prepare of ad hoc financial reports required from time to time by government agencies, lenders and other users.
  8. Prepare tax provision and tax working papers.
  9. Review cash reports and manage the cash flow of the organization to optimize the short and medium term use of the financial resources of the organization.
  10. Prepare monthly cash flow projection.
  11. Coordinate monthly construction loan draws.

Qualifications:

  1. Must have a degree in Finance and Accounting
  2. CPA Designated
  3. Strong technical competency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  4. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  5. Experience in the Real Estate Industry is Ideal

The Staff Accountant will support and contribute to the efficiency in the Accounting Department. The ability to prioritize is a must for this dynamic position.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Prepare and process accounts payable invoices, cheques and wire transfers
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date, taking advantage of vendor terms, where appropriate
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Sorting and filing all paid invoices and other documents, as needed
  • Assisting with vendor and account reconciliations
  • Ensure the Accounting System is updated regularly for accuracy of vendor contact and address information
  • Perform other related accounts payable duties as required
  • Various ad hoc and special projects
  • Other duties may be required

 
Qualifications
•             At least 2-3 years of accounting experience in a similar role
•             A diploma or degree in accounting or administration, or equivalent
•             General knowledge of accounting processes and procedures
•             Strong knowledge of office applications – Excel, Word, Outlook.
•             Excellent phone and email etiquette and ability to write clear and concise business communications
•             Ability to work proactively both independently and in a team environment
•             Impeccable accuracy with numbers and high-level of attention to detail
•             A solid work ethic with ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work under pressure in a fast-paced high-volume environment
•             Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner
